In 1987, the cemetery became associated with the Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) when Myrtle Stevens was recognized as a Real Daughter of the Confederacy. This recognition highlights the cemetery's historical connection to the Civil War era and the families who lived during that time.
Today, Steven Cemetery is maintained by Steven Cemetery Memorial Board, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The board is dedicated to preserving the cemetery's historic character, honoring those interred and protecting the site for future generations through responsible stewardship and community support.
